Exciting News for the Fall Dinner Theatre: “The Savannah Sipping Society”

We are excited to announce the cast and dinner menu for our 2017 Fall Dinner Theatre production of “The Savannah Sipping Society” written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten and directed by Jenine Nordquist.

Our cast includes:
Dot (played by Mary Fylling) is the eldest of the four friends, challenged by both health issues and the recent, sudden death of her husband.

Jinx (played by Diane Drager) is a middle aged woman who recently moved to Savannah for the sole purpose of enjoying life with her older sister. Shortly after the move, however, Jinx realizes that her sister is suffering from dementia.

Marlafaye (played by Rhoda Hubbard) is a new addition to Savannah, having “left her life in Tyler, Texas” upon learning of her husband’s affair with a woman 30+ years younger.

Randa (played by Lena Mowlem) is a middle aged woman who becomes unhinged at her workplace when she is overlooked for a much deserved promotion.  She finds herself out of work and unsteady with financial challenges for the first time in her life.

The show delivers serious topics with sensitivity, realism, and humor in a dinner theater setting at the Crow River Winery; what could be better.

The setting of the show is Savannah, Georgia and the menu takes us to the south, with some traditional southern comfort food (with delicious and perhaps unexpected twists) provided by Chef Craig.  And of course, bar service provided by Crow River Winery.

Be sure to purchase your tickets NOW by clicking on the red “Box Office” ticket found on this page!

Doors will open at 5:30 PM – Dinner will be served starting at 6:00 PM – Show will start at approximately 7:00 PM

Please note: Ticket Sales for each performance will end at 5:00pm the evening prior to each show to allow for catering staff to preparations.  Exceptions/Substitutions to the catering menu are not available.

Our “Southern” Dinner Menu:
Southern Fried Chicken with Bourbon Peach Glaze
Cheddar Garlic Grits
Brussel Sprouts in Maple-Bacon Vinaigrette
Grilled Peach Pecan Spring Greens Salad

Audition Reminder / Casting Call – Bloody Murder

Mystery/Comedy by Ed Sala
Directed by Lori Thul
AUDITIONS: Jan 23/24, 6-8pm, at Hutchinson Center for the Arts

Performances at Hutchinson Center for the Arts, March 30-April 1, and April 6-8, 2017.

A group of the usual British murder-mystery types gather for a weekend retreat at the sumptuous country estate of the esteemed Lady Somerset. There’s the major who served in India; the inebriated, fading actor; the innocent ingénue; the exotic lady in red; the mysterious Chinese gentleman; the rich dowager aunt; and her faithful maid and worthless nephew. Suddenly, one of them dies of poison! Well, of course. Oh what fun! But wait…Her Ladyship refuses to summon the police! She says she won’t go through all this, again. All what, again? And why were they all invited here in the first place? Is this actually just another formulaic, all-too-predictable mystery story? Or is it something diabolically different? Agatha Christie meets Pirandello, as characters rebel against their author. It’s bloody murder!

This is sure to be a fun play for both seasoned actors and those wanting to give theatre a try. There are several smaller parts besides the characters mentioned above. We need 6-12 actors, men and women, a variety of ages, all adults.

Auditions will be held January 23 & 24, 2017, at Hutchinson Center for the Arts, from 6-8pm. Come ready to read and have some fun! Bring your calendar to provide possible conflicts for rehearsals.
